Matt holds
a B.S. in Finance, M.Ed. in Educational Administration and an M.A. in Pastoral
Ministry, all from Boston
College. He is a graduate
of Fordham Preparatory
School, Bronx,
NY.
Matt Fitzsimons served as President of
Northwest Catholic High School, a Catholic, coeducational college preparatory school
serving 625 students in West Hartford, from June 2006 to June 2009. During his tenure, Matt implemented a number
of new initiatives including: a five year Strategic Plan, long-term Master
Facilities Plan, Professional Learning Communities, the retention of a
full-time Academic Advisor to ensure that under-performing students were given the
tools to succeed; capital, endowment and scholarship campaigns to improve the
physical plant, reduction of school debt, an international student
program. Additional initiatives in
marketing, admissions and advancement resulted in one of the highest
enrollments in 25 years and record breaking years in the Annual Fund.
From 2001-2008, Matt was Vice President of the Association of Catholic Advancement and Admissions Professionals (ACAAP). He co-founded the Young New Yorkers for Charity in 1984 and raised over $350,000 for small worthy charities in the greater New York area from 1984 to 1994. Matt's involvement in grass-roots education programs dates back to the mid-1980s when he tutored students at the original Nativity School, located on Forsythe Street in Manhattan.
